Group therapy

Group therapy and support groups

Some things only heal between people. Choose a group that's right for you – in Gdańsk, Gdynia or online – and join the waiting list. We'll get in touch when the group starts to form.

Why group therapy?

Most of the difficulties we seek help for arose in relationships – and relationships are where they heal most effectively. Group therapy and support groups offer experiences no consulting room can provide: discovering that you are not alone, honest feedback from people outside your everyday world and a safe space to practise new behaviours before you try them out in life.

Every group is led by an experienced psychologist or psychotherapist, membership is fixed and the group is small, and all participants are bound by confidentiality. Before you join, we invite you to a free initial conversation – together we check whether the group meets your needs.

Group therapy – frequently asked questions

Answers to the most important questions

What is group therapy?

Group therapy means regular meetings of a fixed group of a few people led by a psychotherapist. A group offers what individual work cannot: the experience that you are not alone with your difficulties, feedback from other participants and a safe place to practise new ways of being in relationships. Research shows that in many areas group therapy is as effective as individual therapy.

Group or individual therapy – which should I choose?

It depends on your difficulties and where you are right now. A group helps especially when the difficulties concern relationships with people – because in a group these patterns become visible and can be changed in real time. Individual therapy gives you the therapist's full attention and privacy. The two are often combined. If you are not sure what to choose – book a free initial conversation and we'll decide together.

How does the waiting list work?

A group can only start once enough participants have signed up. By leaving your contact details on the waiting list, you risk nothing and commit to nothing – when the group starts to form, we will contact you first and invite you to a free initial conversation.

The group I'm looking for isn't on the list. What then?

Tell us in the ‘Other’ section – just briefly describe the group you're looking for and leave your contact details. The list of groups is not closed: we collect these requests and open enrolment once a group of people with a similar need comes together. If we can offer you something on your topic right now – another group or individual work – we'll get in touch with that suggestion.

Will what I say in the group stay in the group?

Yes. Every group works on the principle of confidentiality – participants undertake not to share outside the group what they have heard, and the group leader is bound by professional secrecy. This is the foundation of safety, and we start the very first meeting with it.

How much does it cost to take part in a group?

The price depends on the type of group and the length of the cycle – we give it to people on the waiting list before enrolment starts, always before any commitment. Group sessions are usually noticeably cheaper than individual sessions, because the cost is shared among the participants.

Not sure which group is right for you?

Call us or book a free initial conversation – together we'll choose the form of help that best meets your needs.
