Psychotherapy in Gdańsk – where to start?
You usually come to psychotherapy when your own ways of coping are no longer enough – anxiety robs you of your peace of mind, sadness has not lifted for weeks, and the same difficulties keep coming back in one relationship or job after another. You do not need a “diagnosis” to come. It is enough to feel that something is too much for you, or that you want to understand your own reactions better. Psychotherapy is regular, relationship-based work with a therapist that helps you name what is difficult and actually do something about it.
We work in several therapeutic approaches, because no single method is right for everyone. In cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) we focus on how thoughts affect emotions and behaviour. In the psychodynamic approach we look for the sources of difficulties in recurring patterns. We also work in the integrative approach, ACT, schema therapy, DBT and solution-focused brief therapy (SFBT). In the first sessions we set goals together and choose the approach that best suits you and your situation.
A psychotherapy session lasts 50 minutes and usually takes place weekly or every two weeks. We see patients in three offices in Gdańsk – in Wrzeszcz on Wajdeloty Street (near SKM Gdańsk Wrzeszcz station), in Ujeścisko-Łostowice on Bergiela Street and in Ujeścisko on Piekarnicza Street – and online, if you prefer to work from home. We do not work with the NFZ (Poland's National Health Fund), so waiting times are short and you do not need a referral. Start with a free initial visit: in 15-20 minutes you will get to know us and see whether this is the right place for you.
