Solution-focused therapy in Gdańsk – what does it involve?

Not everyone who seeks help wants to spend months taking their childhood apart piece by piece. Sometimes you need concrete support with what is happening now: making a decision, breaking a deadlock, coping with stress or regaining a sense of agency. Solution-focused brief therapy (SFBT) starts from a simple assumption – you do not have to fully understand the causes of a problem to start building a solution. Instead of digging into what is wrong, we look at where you want to get to.

In SFBT we work with your resources and with exceptions – situations in which the problem was smaller or absent – and we build on what is already working. The therapist asks questions that help you notice your own strengths and concrete, small steps towards your goal. Our therapists hold Level I and II certificates from Centrum TSR (the Centre for Solution-Focused Therapy), so you work with people trained in this method. This approach tends to be shorter than classic therapy and works well when you want a quick, practical result.

A session lasts 50 minutes and costs from 200 PLN. SFBT is usually short-term work – sometimes a few sessions are enough to get things moving. We see patients at three offices in Gdańsk: in Wrzeszcz on Wajdeloty Street, in Ujeścisko-Łostowice on Bergiela Street and in Ujeścisko on Piekarnicza Street, as well as online. We work privately, with no referrals and no NFZ (Poland's National Health Fund) waiting lists, so you will get your first appointment quickly. Start with a free initial visit, where you will meet the therapist and see whether this approach suits you.

Solution-focused therapy in Gdańsk – frequently asked questions

Answers to the most common questions

How much does solution-focused therapy cost in Gdańsk?▼

An SFBT session lasts 50 minutes and costs from 200 PLN. Because it is a short-term approach, a few sessions are often enough. You can start with a free initial visit to meet the therapist and see whether SFBT is right for you.

What is solution-focused therapy?▼

SFBT is an approach that, instead of analysing the causes of a problem, focuses on the client's goal and resources. You work on where you want to get to and what is already working, building concrete, small steps of change. It is a practical, concrete approach to the here and now.

How long does SFBT take?▼

It is one of the shorter approaches. Many people feel a change after just a few sessions, although we always adapt the length to the goal and the situation. SFBT works well when you want a quick, practical result.

Who is SFBT for?▼

For people who want concrete change in their current situation – to make a decision, break a deadlock, cope with stress or regain a sense of agency. It also works well for those who are not comfortable with lengthy analysis of the past.

How is SFBT different from classic psychotherapy?▼

Classic therapy often looks for the sources of difficulties in the past. SFBT looks ahead – at the goal and solutions – and is usually shorter. You do not need to fully understand the causes of a problem to start building change. The choice of approach depends on your needs.

Who provides SFBT?▼

Our therapists hold Level I and II certificates from Centrum TSR, which means they are trained in this method. At the first meeting you will get to know your therapist and together agree on the goal and the way of working.

Is SFBT available online?▼

Yes, we offer SFBT online via a secure video call. This approach works well in this format, because it is based on conversation and concrete steps that you put into practice in everyday life. An online session lasts 50 minutes.
