Depression psychotherapy in Gdynia – what does the help look like?
Depression rarely looks like it does in films. More often it's grey weeks in which everything takes “forcing yourself”, sleep and appetite become disrupted, joy disappears from things that used to bring pleasure, and in the background sits the thought “I'm useless”. Sometimes irritability, anxiety, or emptiness and withdrawal from people come with it. You don't need a “reason” to feel this bad – and you don't need to wait until it gets even worse. Depression is a state you come out of, especially with the right support.
We start by understanding what your depression looks like and what's keeping it going – because it's a little different for everyone. Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) works well in treating depression: it helps break the vicious circle of “I don't feel like doing anything, so I do nothing, so it gets even worse”, restoring activity in small steps and challenging the most draining thoughts. We also work in the psychodynamic, integrative, ACT and schema therapy approaches. If symptoms are severe, we can help you consult a psychiatrist about treatment – therapy and medication complement each other well.
The session lasts 50 minutes and usually takes place once a week, especially at the start, when regular support matters most. We see patients at our office in central Gdynia at 10 Lutego 7/103, on the first floor, a few minutes from Gdynia Główna station, with convenient access from Redłowo, Orłowo, Witomino, as well as from Rumia, Reda and Sopot. When leaving the house is hard, we run sessions online. The first step can be a free initial visit, with no obligation.
