Autism spectrum (ASD) assessment in Gdańsk – what does it involve?
Parents often feel for years that “something is different” about their child – they find it harder to get along with peers, react more strongly to stimuli and have their own rigid rituals, while the people around them suggest conflicting diagnoses. Increasingly, we also hear from adults who, after reading about the spectrum, recognise themselves in the descriptions. A diagnosis is not a label – it is a map: it explains where the difficulties come from and makes it possible to choose support that really works.
The diagnostic process for the autism spectrum consists of several sessions: a detailed clinical and developmental interview (for children – with the parents), observation and standardised questionnaires chosen for the person's age. In older teenagers the process can be supplemented with the MMPI-2 personality test, and if co-occurring ADHD is suspected – with the DIVA 5.0 interview. It all ends with a written psychological report with recommendations. For adults we offer diagnostic consultations for the autism spectrum – an interview and screening – and if needed we refer you on, for example for a psychiatric diagnosis.
A diagnosis is a beginning, not an end: afterwards we support the child and the family – we run Social Skills Training (TUS), parental consultations and age-appropriate therapy. Sessions take place at three offices in Gdańsk (Wrzeszcz, Morena, Ujeścisko), and part of the process can be done online. Start with a free initial visit – we will talk through the situation and plan the course and cost of the whole process.
