Psychotherapy for children and teenagers in Gdańsk – comprehensive support

Every age has its challenges. In young children, difficulties show in their behaviour – fears, tearfulness, outbursts, trouble sleeping or problems at preschool. Teenagers also face the storms of adolescence: low mood, withdrawal, conflicts, anxiety, pressure from school and peers, and sometimes self-harm or eating problems. As a parent, you can often see that “something is going on”, but you are not sure whether it is a developmental stage or a sign that help is needed. We are here to help you recognise which it is.

We tailor what we offer to the youngest children and to teenagers according to their age and needs. With young children we work through play and drawing; with teenagers – through conversation and methods such as cognitive behavioural therapy or elements of DBT. We provide psychological consultations for children, age-appropriate therapy, support for young people, parental consultations and ADHD assessment for children and teenagers. We always involve the parents in the work with the child, because you are the ones closest to them every day.

We usually start with a consultation, where we get to know the situation and decide together on the next steps – sometimes that means therapy for the child, sometimes support for the parents, and sometimes an assessment. Sessions last 50 minutes, a consultation costs 200 PLN, and an ADHD assessment starts from 400 PLN. We see patients at three offices in Gdańsk (Wrzeszcz, Morena, Ujeścisko) and online. We work privately, with no referrals and no NFZ (Poland's National Health Fund) waiting lists. The first step can be a free initial visit.

Psychotherapy for children and teenagers in Gdańsk – frequently asked questions

Answers to the most common questions

How much does psychotherapy for children and teenagers cost in Gdańsk?▼

A psychological consultation costs 200 PLN for 50 minutes, further therapy sessions cost from 200 PLN, and an ADHD assessment starts from 400 PLN. To begin, you can come for a free initial visit to meet the specialist and find out about the form of help.

What ages is this for?▼

We help both young children and teenagers. With younger children we work through play and drawing; with older ones – through conversation suited to their age. If you are not sure which form to choose, we will help you find the right specialist at the first contact.

How is working with a child different from working with a teenager?▼

With a child we work in their language – through play, drawing and stories – and we closely involve the parents. With a teenager we focus on conversation, building trust and confidentiality, and involve the parents through consultations. We choose the method to suit the age and the difficulties.

How do you match a specialist to a child?▼

We go by the child's age and the kind of difficulties. At the first consultation we get to know the situation and suggest a person and a form of help – therapy for the child, support for the teenager, consultations for the parents or an assessment. What matters is that the child feels safe.

What is the parents' role?▼

A very important one, whatever the child's age. With younger children, working together with the parents is the foundation of change, and with teenagers we keep a balance between their right to confidentiality and your need to know the direction of the work.

Can the sessions take place online?▼

Parental consultations and part of the work with teenagers work well online. Therapy with young children is usually more effective in person, because it relies on direct contact and play. We decide on the format individually.

Is a referral needed?▼

No. We work privately, without referrals or NFZ waiting lists, so you can book the first visit within a few days. Afternoon appointments make it easier to fit sessions around school and preschool.
