Child psychotherapy in Gdynia – when should you seek help for your child?
Children rarely say “I'm feeling low” or “I'm scared”. Instead, they become tearful or prone to outbursts, start wetting the bed again, sleep worse, complain of stomach aches before nursery, or withdraw from play. This often happens around times of change: the birth of a sibling, parents separating, starting school, moving house. It isn't “being spoiled” or “naughtiness” – it's how a child copes with something they don't have the words for yet. Get in touch when you see your child finding it hard.
With children roughly between the ages of 5 and 12, we work in their language: through play, drawing, stories and movement. It's in play that a child shows their emotions and learns to name and regulate them. The therapist follows the child, not the other way round, building a sense of safety. Work with parents matters just as much – without your involvement, the change won't hold. That's why we meet regularly with parents for consultations, offering guidance on how to respond to anger, fear and difficult behaviour at home.
The session with the child is shorter and adapted to their ability to concentrate; we always start with a meeting with the parents, to learn the history and set goals. We see patients at our office in central Gdynia at 10 Lutego 7/103, on the first floor, a few minutes from Gdynia Główna station, with convenient access from Redłowo, Witomino, Karwiny or from Rumia and Reda. The first step is a free initial visit for parents – without the child, so you can discuss everything calmly.
