Couples therapy for Sopot residents – when should you get in touch?
People rarely come to couples therapy after just one big row. More often it's months of growing distance – conversation drops to logistics like “who's picking up the kids”, evenings pass with two screens, and every attempt at an honest conversation ends in an argument or a slammed door. On top of that come recurring conflicts about money, the home or closeness, leaving a sense that you're speaking two different languages. Couples therapy is a place where you can both finally be properly heard – without interrupting, judging or looking for someone to blame.
A couples therapist is an impartial moderator – they don't take either side, because the “client” here is your relationship, not either of you. We work with couples in crisis, after infidelity, while deciding whether to separate, and with those who want to get on better before a wedding or the birth of a child. We combine approaches suited to you – from solution-focused brief therapy (SFBT) and the cognitive behavioural approach (CBT) to working on patterns from schema therapy. You learn to talk about needs instead of grievances, and to understand what's really behind the anger.
We don't have an office in Sopot itself, but the journey is genuinely short. Our office in Gdańsk Wrzeszcz (Wajdeloty 28/202A) is right by Gdańsk Wrzeszcz SKM station, and our office in central Gdynia (10 Lutego 7/103) is a few steps from Gdynia Główna station. From Sopot that's a few to a dozen or so minutes by train each way, with no hunting for parking. Couples therapy sessions last 50 minutes and usually take place every 1-2 weeks; we also run them online, if that suits you better. The first step can be a free initial visit, where you'll meet the therapist and decide whether you want to start.
