What Is a Psychological Consultation?

A psychological consultation is a meeting with a specialist aimed at identifying the problem, assessing the situation, and planning further steps. It is not therapy yet – it is the first step.

The Difference Between a Consultation and Therapy

A consultation typically involves 1–3 sessions of a diagnostic and orientational nature. Psychotherapy is a longer, regular process aimed at deeper change. A consultation helps determine whether and what form of therapy will be best.

Who Is It For?

A consultation is for anyone who feels the need to talk to a specialist – regardless of whether the problem seems big or small. People often come with a feeling that "something is off" but cannot name it precisely. And that is perfectly fine.
